In order to expand the international market and diversify tourist sources, Da Nang is actively implementing tourism promotion programs in India. With a population of more than 1.4 billion people and a growing middle class, India has become one of the important markets for Da Nang tourism.
On February 17, 2025, the Da Nang Department of Tourism coordinated with Vietjet Air to organize a tourism promotion event in Ahmedabad, Gujarat, India. The program aims to promote tourism cooperation between the two cities through Vietjet Air’s direct flights, while promoting diverse tourism experiences in Da Nang to Indian tourists.

The event was attended by the Consulate General of Vietnam in India, representatives of major tourism associations such as TAAI, TAFI, OTOAI and GTAA, and more than 100 tourism businesses from Ahmedabad. In particular, Miss Universe India 2024 – Rhea Singha also participated in the program, helping to increase the attraction and spread the image of Da Nang tourism.
The program includes many rich activities such as connecting businesses, screening films promoting Da Nang tourism, introducing the direct flight route Ahmedabad – Da Nang and attractive tourism services. 21 tourism businesses from Da Nang participated in the event to introduce new tourism products, meeting the needs and interests of Indian tourists. A special highlight was the performance of the traditional Vietnamese Ao Dai collection, with the appearance of Miss Rhea Singha.

According to Ms. Huynh Thi Huong Lan, Deputy Director of the Da Nang Tourism Promotion Center, recognizing India as a key market has driven the city to continuously enhance its tourism offerings, providing visitors with more diverse and enriching experiences. Since 2022, India has ranked among the top five international tourist sources for Da Nang, with half of all Indian travelers to Vietnam selecting the city as their preferred destination.
From October 2024 to present, there have been 75 flights from Da Nang to Ahmedabad and vice versa, with more than 8,600 visitors.

In recent times, Indian tourists have been in the top 5 international tourist markets to Da Nang City, accounting for 5.3% of the visitor structure. Indian tourists favor Da Nang City with many cultural similarities, especially MICE and wedding tourism products.
Da Nang City has launched special service packages for wedding tourism products, such as incentives for groups of 50 people or more.

In 2024, Da Nang City will welcome more than 222,000 Indian visitors, accounting for nearly 50% of the total number of Indian visitors to Vietnam. Notably, compared to 2019 (before Covid-19), the total number of Indian visitors to Da Nang has increased more than 13.5 times.
The Danang Tourism Introduction Program in Ahmedabad is expected to contribute to realizing the goal of enhancing cultural cooperation, tourism and people-to-people exchange, while creating a solid foundation for development cooperation between the two countries in the fields of tourism and aviation.
