A railway journey connecting two of Central Vietnam’s most culturally significant destinations has earned international recognition, ranking among the world’s top 10 train trips for 2026. The Vietnam Central Heritage Connection, which runs between Hue and Da Nang, placed 10th in The Best Train Trips in the World: 2026 Readers’ Choice Awards by US travel magazine Condé Nast Traveler.
The ranking highlights the appeal of exploring Vietnam by rail, where coastal scenery, historic destinations and local cultural experiences come together along a single route.
What Makes The Hue–Da Nang Train Journey Special?
Launched in early 2024, the Hue–Da Nang service offers more than a way to travel between the two cities. Over approximately three hours, passengers can take in views of the Tam Giang–Cau Hai lagoon system, Lang Co Bay and the spectacular Hai Van Pass, one of the region’s most striking coastal landscapes.
The route provides a different perspective on Central Vietnam, allowing travellers to appreciate its natural beauty at a relaxed pace. It also links two destinations known for their cultural and historical heritage, making the train an appealing option for visitors looking to explore beyond conventional road travel.

Local Culture On Board
Scenery is only part of the experience. The train also incorporates cultural activities into the journey, with communal carriages hosting performances of traditional Vietnamese music and dance. These spaces give passengers an opportunity to experience local artistic traditions while travelling through the region.
Affordability is another attraction. According to Condé Nast Traveler, a one-way ticket costs approximately US$11, placing the route among the least expensive journeys featured in the 2026 ranking.

Vietnam had another entry on the list: The Vietage by Anantara, a luxury rail experience that ranked 14th. The two routes showcase different ways to discover the country by train, from an accessible scenic connection between Hue and Da Nang to a premium travel experience.
The international recognition brings further attention to Central Vietnam’s tourism potential. By combining coastal views, heritage destinations and cultural performances, the Hue–Da Nang railway offers visitors another way to experience the region while strengthening connections between two of its major travel hubs.
